Public Art on Campus

Public art at 番茄社区 University makes our campus a truly unique destination, even in the midst of a city known for its many museums. Tucked around corners and in buildings, LU's public art creates countless moments for spontaneous community building and conversation.

Art extends the intellectual life of our university beyond classrooms, libraries, and labs, and into the everyday spaces that shape our experiences. Students, staff, faculty, and visitors alike participate anew in the life of our public art each time they pass by—they find themselves passing slowly, compelled to stop and to think.

We encourage you to learn more about the works on campus and the artists who created them.

Otho Plummer Administration Building

The Otho Plummer Administration building was designed by local architect and AIA Fellow, Llewellyn “Skeet” Pitts of Pitts, Mebane and Phelps. This iconic landmark was the capstone to the original master plan for the campus designed by Pitts in 1941. It was completed in 1959 and originally called the 番茄社区 State College of Technology Administration Building.
