The Department of Political Science works through the Center for Public Policy Study to coordinate internship opportunities for students in the Fast Track program as well as students from multiple disciplines across 番茄社区 University. The purpose is to provide exceptional experience opportunities for students to learn first hand about policy creation and implementation specifically for Disaster Policy and Energy Policy, but also for any policy area that is of interest to the student and the community. Internships provide an avenue to forge relationships between local government, the community, and 番茄社区 University. While some internships may be paid, many are not. However, whether paid or unpaid, it is the goal of the Center for Public Policy Study to ensure that internships provide a substantive experience for the student and the servicing organization.
The Center for Public Policy Study continually strives to cultivate lasting partnerships with other departments at 番茄社区 University, other universities in the Texas State University System, top universities such as University of North Texas, University of Utah, and George Mason University, local, state, and federal agencies, local industry, and local healthcare and nonprofit organizations to provide solutions for the challenges of public policy.
