Master of Engineering

The Master of Engineering degree is a non-thesis, 30-semester-hour program designed to suit the needs of the practicing engineer in mechanical engineering or other disciplines that comprise 番茄社区's College of Engineering.

Our faculty work with students on a wide range of research topics including materials, corrosion, combustion, multi-physics and scale modeling, design, thermal systems and more.

番茄社区 University is located in Beaumont, Texas, a major chemical manufacturing center with four refineries and many heavy industrial facilities in the area. Beaumont is a two-hour drive from Houston, a global engineering center and headquarters for many leading companies.

The Mechanical Engineering Department provides several forms of support to graduate students. Qualified masters and doctoral graduate students are often offered a scholarship and instate tuition based on GRE and academic background. The department also offers a limited number of doctoral student assistantships (teaching and research) that provide fee waivers on a merit basis.

Admission Requirements

Admission standards are designed to ensure that all enrolled students are qualified professionals serving in a leadership role in their engineering discipline. The primary requirements are as follows:

  1. B.S. in Engineering (Transcripts required)
  2. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional.
  3. If English is a second language, obtain the minimum scores in IELTS or TOEFL according to the latest University policy.

Degree Requirements

  1. All College of Graduate Studies general degree requirements
  2. A minimum of 30 semester hours of electives which may include: MEEN 5325 Finite Element Analysis with ANSYS; MEEN 5326 Control of Mechanical Systems; MEEN 5335 Mechanical Vibrations; MEEN 5389 CAD Solid Modeling; MEEN 5311 Energy Conversion Systems; MEEN 5313 Optimizations of Thermal Systems; MEEN 5323 Advanced Heat Transfer and Applications; MEEN 5350 Turbomachinery; MEEN 5362 Energy Engineering; MEEN 5367 Intro. to CFD; MEEN 5330 Two Phase Flow and Heat Transfer. Other courses approved by department graduate advisor may satisfy part of this requirement
  3. Satisfactory completion of a final comprehensive examination
