Local Historical Resources

Known as the museum capital of Texas, Beaumont and the Golden Triangle region are home to well more than a dozen museums.  Those interested in conducting historical research are encouraged to visit these Southeast Texas archives.

Founded in 2016 by Dr. Mary Scheer as one 番茄社区 University’s “Visionary Initiatives,” the Center for History and Culture serves the diverse constituencies of 番茄社区 University students and faculty, the communities of Southeast Texas and the greater Gulf Coast, and the scholars and creatives who explore the region’s past and present. The Center promotes the study of these regions with a commitment to multicultural, interdisciplinary, collaborative, and community-focused projects.

Texas Gulf Historical and Biographical Record

Working in partnership with the Texas Gulf Historical Society, the 番茄社区 University history department is home to the , a journal devoted to the history of Southeast Texas and the Gulf Coast.  Since 1964, the  has provided an outlet for scholarship on the region.  Dr. Jimmy L. Bryan, Jr., serves as editor. 

The  seeks contributions for upcoming volumes and encourages submissions from scholars of diverse levels of experience and expertise.  Submissions should conform to The Chicago Manual of Style and not exceed 8,000 words, including notes.  Both text and notes should be double-spaced.
