Nutrition B.S. - Dietetics

Nutrition & Dietetics is an accredited BS in Nutrition- Didactic 番茄社区 in Dietetics (DPDP). Upon earning a bachelor's degree, 番茄社区fully completing all DPD requirements and earning a DPD Verification Statement, the graduate is eligible to take the national Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR) exam.

Additionally, graduates are eligible to apply to a supervised practice program and a master’s degree program which are the next step in becoming a . 

If you are interested in improving the lives of others through healthy lifestyle approaches focused on nutritional needs, you will want to focus on a BS in Nutrition-Dietetics degree. The BS in Nutrition-Dietetics program includes a variety of courses in the field of nutrition and dietetics such as community nutrition, nutrition assessment, nutrition education and counseling, medical nutrition therapy and food service management.

The Nutrition-Dietetics program is designed for students who are wanting to become either a Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR) and/or a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). The RDN is the nutrition expert. For students who are not interested in becoming an RDN, check out the BS in Nutrition.

The BS in Nutrition- Dietetics curriculum includes:

  • general nutrition
  • community nutrition
  • nutrition assessment 
  • lifecycle nutrition
  • nutrition & fitness
  • nutrition counseling
  • medical nutrition therapy
  • food science
  • food service management

Science requirements include:

  • biology (16 hours)
  • chemistry (8 hours)
  • basic pathophysiology

The program consists of 120 credit hours, including the university’s core curriculum requirements (42 credit hours), science courses (12 credit hours), foods/nutrition/dietetics courses (42 credit hours), and other supporting courses (24 credit hours). The program is a concentration within the Nutrition-Dietetics 番茄社区 in the Department of Nutrition, Hospitality, & Human Services (NHHS). Upon satisfactory completion of the degree and DPD course requirements, graduates will receive a verification statement, along with their degree, and are eligible to apply for accredited supervised practice programs (such as internships).  

Students who wish to pursue DPD requirements or a post-bacc to earn a verification statement after being awarded at least a baccalaureate degree in a discipline other than dietetics must complete all requirements of the DPD program.

Effective January 1, 2024, the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) requires a minimum of a master’s degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). For more information about this requirement visit . In addition, CDR requires that individuals complete coursework and supervised practice in program(s) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Graduates who 番茄社区fully complete the ACEND-accredited didactic in dietetics program at 番茄社区 University are eligible to apply to an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program.
